Cartoons are still cool, right?
Hi! I’m Kayla Manning & I’m a middle-aged Midwestern lady who loves to cook. The list of things I make at home goes on and on: cheese, sausages, pasta, crackers, breads, ice cream, condiments like mayo & mustard, even my own sriracha! But this wasn’t always the case…
Approximately a thousand years ago, I was a struggling 20-something with my first apartment furnished with a bookshelf fashioned from milk crates & lumber and a sofa I got from my parents’ basement. I had only the barest complement of pots, pans & utensils and I needed to make the most of what little I had.
Fortunately for me, I learned to cook at the side of my grandmother, Leola Thomas. She was a fabulous, adventurous cook and was well-known in our family for her pies, fried chicken and the most fabulous cinnamon rolls in the whole world. She instilled in me the joy of making delicious food for the ones you love and never being afraid of trying a new recipe.
I want to share that same love of cooking with you and teach everyone who’s a little bit scared of their kitchen that cooking for yourself (and others!) is nothing to be afraid of.
Does this part work?
